Real Simple asked designers for the one color they reach for when a room needs to feel warm, settled, and a little more protected from the outside world. Elizabeth Valkovics of Batten Court Design points to the warm gray family as her go-to.
Her favorite is Sherwin-Williams Mindful Gray, a light gray with enough warmth to sit comfortably beside both cool and warm tones. She likes pairing it with crisp black and white, where it softens the contrast and keeps a room feeling classic rather than cold. For a similar effect, she also recommends Sherwin-Williams Agreeable Gray.
